TheCityRun turns a city into its own running community for one weekend — open to everyone and led by the local sports community, with non-competitive activities across the city and an officially timed 5, 10 and 15 km race for those who want the clock. We have proven the model in Morocco and Kenya. We are now building the network, city by city.
National TV, radio and press coverage in every host country · free to participants, funded by partners, corporate participation and local authorities.
Around twenty non-competitive activities across the city — runs, walks, fitness and cardio sessions — all led by local running groups, sports associations, coaches and champions. Plus one officially timed race on the Sunday, over 5, 10 and 15 km.
Families, first-timers and seasoned runners share the same weekend. No qualifying time, no barrier to entry. And on the Sunday morning, a fully timed race over 5, 10 and 15 km — official bib, electronic timing, ranking and finisher certificate — for those who train and want a result on the record.
We do not import an event. Every activity is run by the city’s own clubs, associations and coaches.
The weekend is a starting point, not a one-off. The goal is a city that keeps moving afterwards.
Running groups, clubs, sports associations, coaches and champions are not guests at TheCityRun — they are the people who make it happen. We provide the framework; the community provides the soul, leads the activities and gives people a way to keep moving long after the weekend is over.

MarrakechTwo countries, six cities, sixteen editions delivered to date.
We opened the market, proved the model works outside Morocco, and paused when the local economics did not support recurring editions. That decision now shapes how we select every new city: community first, viable partner base second, calendar third.
Cities are announced once agreements are signed — never before. If you represent a city, an organisation or a company, talk to us early.
Confirmed editions only. Registration is handled on each city’s own website.
TheCityRun is free to participants. It exists because partners, corporate participation and local authorities make it possible.

Looking at a Moroccan city in particular? Packages, rates and corporate packs are detailed on partners.thecity.run.
We work with cities, local organisations and private partners to launch new editions. Depending on the market, editions are either operated directly by our team or delivered with a local partner under our model and brand. Tell us about your city — we will come back to you with what a first edition would look like.
